SI NSMC Cookbook 2016

EXPANDING YOUR HORIZONS, Math & Science Conference at Skyline College, was held on March 12. SI NSMC sponsored approximately 150 girls 13-14 years old, from three local junior high schools. SI NSMC is an annual sponsor of this event.

The 11th ANNUAL STEP INTO SPRING was successfully held on March 11th at the SSF Municipal Services Building. Attendance was phenomenal, considering it was a stormy night. There was entertaining guitar music by Jay Alvarez, with lots of activity at the silent auction tables. SI North San Mateo County is very thankful to all who attended and made this another successful year. Many people complimented our club members on the fantastic work our club does in the community, and showed their appreciation by making this fundraiser more successful than last year. It keeps getting better and better! One of the beneficiaries of the evening will be Sitike Counseling Center which will receive $1900 from Balloon Sale & Prize Event, that includes $750 from A.S.F.Electric.

LIVE YOUR DREAM: EDUCATION AND TRAINING AWARDS FOR WOMEN:
Women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families and seek financial assistance to continue their education or receive training may apply for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women. Soroptimist International of North San Mateo County for the second year will offer three cash awards. The club's website provides a link to the online writeable application. Applications may also be mailed to SINSMC, P.O. Box 5554, SSF, CA 94083-5554.

The club will provide a $3,000 cash grat to its first place award recipient, who then advances to the Soroptimist Sierra Pacific Region level, where recipients could receive up to an additional $5,000. Recipients can use the Live Your Dream Award to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. This includes tuition, books, childcare, carfare or any other education-related expense.
